Chapter one of the new book!

I'm checking in to say that I've been steadily working on not only the second installment of Ruination, but also my unnamed (as of yet) novel, featuring Westin and Jenny!  I love the two characters so much, even when they break my heart!

Since I'm taking a break today, taking my kayak out, I thought I'd give a little sneak peak into the unnamed book!

Chapter 1

The water ran over her fingers as she wrung her hands together.  Her mind danced through the memories, like a child left to its own devises.  Remembering his smile, his smell, the way he'd watch her when he thought she wasn't paying attention.  How could she not pay attention to him?  He'd been charismatic and charming, beautiful and sincere.  The reflection made it full circle, back to him leaving.

She consciously pumped soap out of the ceramic dispenser, a wedding gift from the Andersons down the road.  Small geese wearing blue, fluffy bows around their necks adorned the rim.  It matched the cup towels hanging from the oven handle.

Bonus excerpt from Ruination!

I'm working on the second installment of the Ruination series.  I thought I'd give one more excerpt from the first one!  Enjoy!

She gave me a tight smile, "You can't be here, Harper.  I'm entertaining."

"Really, mom?  Tell him to go.  I'm in the middle of something with Loralie and I can't stand to look at her right now.  I don't have anywhere else to go."

"Harper!  I'm serious.  Come by later."  Her voice took on a whine.  I curled my lip and cut my eyes back to the fireplace.  It had never been an issue before.  Mom usually like to parade her conquests when I had the displeasure of showing up while she was "entertaining".

Sure, there were times that it would be someone I admired, but other times it was just some good looking stagehand that she'd snagged up.  Regardless, she pranced them around like a peacock showing its colors.

It hit me like a ton of bricks and I looked back to her.  She cut her eyes toward her bedroom when someone coughed from the other side of the closed door.  I glared back toward her room.  She didn't want me to see whoever was in there and, as far as I knew, there was only one name on that list.

"How long is he here this time?"

Excerpt from Ruination

I hopped around on one leg, falling onto my bed.  These pants weren't this tight last time.  Loralie came in with a wire hanger in hand.
“Lie back.”  She said.  Laughing as she straddled my chest, her ass practically smothering me.  She hooked the end of the hanger into the metal zipper and pulled.  I heard the zipper closing, thank God.  “Got it!”  She shouted in triumph.  “Can you breathe?”
“Not with you on top of me.”  I groaned.  She wiggled her ass in my face a few more times before jumping off and running out my bedroom door.  I heard her feet stomp through the hall a short distance before heading into her own room.  One of these days, one of us will fall through the crappy flooring.
We met in the kitchen, both dressed and ready.  “Give me the rules again,” Loralie demanded.  I grumbled, resulting in a stinging slap on the ass.  “Harper!  Just do it.”
“Fine!”  I acquiesced.  “I won’t talk to, look at, or otherwise engage with anyone with any musical talent.  I will not find myself alone with any band members.  If I do find myself attracted to anyone in the musical realm, I will NOT employ them emotionally or otherwise.”
“Good girl.  Are you ready?”
“I hope so,” I mumbled under my breath.

Ruination is now available!

Ruination is now officially available for purchase!  I'm so excited for y'all to meet Harper and Asher.  I hope you love them as much as I do.  While you're here, subscribe to the newsletter or check out the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/authorclscott.

Harper's spent her life trying to make up for the practical abandonment from her father, legendary rockstar, Jim Garrett.  Her striking beauty has made it easy to seduce and emotionally destroy up-and-coming rockers.  Realizing that the destruction she leaves behind does nothing in the way of retribution, Harper vows to turn over a new leaf.

At her first concert back from leaving her old ways, she meets Asher, the singer of heavy metal band, Ruination.  Fighting against old habits and a gnawing hatred for her father, she narrowly escapes his seduction, only to be tracked down months later.  Harper realizes too late that Asher is the epitome of her father, more committed to the music than anything else.  They both must fight through messy pasts and degrading assumptions about one another to make it out together.
